He seems normal in every way except eating. For the first couple of weeks that I had him I only gave him freeze dried blood worms as the LFS didn't have any food  Anyways I got some free flake food with my new 20 gallon. I've tried both the whole flakes and crushed flakes for him and he refuses to eat either. So for the longest time he's just been getting blood worms. He eats them like normal.

Should I try another flate food (I doubt this one is the best quaility since it was free) or just keep him on the blood worms?

Oh and if you can't tell I'm new to the whole fish thing

Freeze dried blood worms? They are good for treats not a everyday diet. He is used to his junk food so just keep trying him on the flake food and don't feed him anything else. Bettas can go for two weeks without food. H ewill get hungry. But betta do usually prefer pellet food. Wardley and Hikari are good brands to look for. Good luck!

Thanks :)

I'll start him on the normal flake food today. And I'll get some pellets the next time I'm at the pet store :)

No more junk food for you :p

Mine don't know what to do with flake food and I use granulated food and only use bloodworms as a treat once or twice a week. If you feed them worms on a regular basis anything else after it is tasteless.

Try starving him for a day, don't give him anything and then on the next day try a bit of the flaked food and see what happens.

Thanks for all of the help. I got him some "Betta Bits" (pellets) and he ate those immediately. On Sundays he can have his tasty blood worms as a treat :)
