My Betta Spike is alone in a 10 gallon tank and I thought he looked a little exposed so I added some plants and a floating "Betta Log" so he can hide a bit. Will this actually help or is it a waste of tank space?

No, it's good! They need hiding places. Also, he may sleep in the log or build a bubble nest around it. They need things to keep them entertained!

Thanks! Last night he was avoiding it, but today I caught him in it and fed him while he was in there to enforce it. I think he may have even started to build a bubble nest in it! He also is really fond of the plants and spends even more time in there, but I got the log cause he can't build a bubble nest in the plants (at least I don't think so...) and I was really curious about that particular phenomenon.
