Hello,

so today i got myself a new betta, red and blue crowntail, hes amazing, hes in a 5gal tank with 2 very small pleco's i also brought today, just wondering if its possible to keep glass cats with a fighter? ive got my other fighter in with neons/danios/corys/yoyo's and he doesnt bother any of them. Any suggestions on what i could keep with him?

I woulnt put anything else with him in a tank that small, maybe some shrimp or a snail, but be careful he might take a disliking to them!

what plecos did you get?

Just want something on the bottom to make the tank a bit more lively, was thinking of shrimps also as long as the betta wont try and eat them

Errrm now that you ask i cant remember, they are very dark pretty much black with brown patterns, and white tips on their tails, very hyper little plecos lol

5 gal is 18 - 19 ltrs...........currently my male VT betta in in an 18ltr tank with 5 black tetra and a baby BN Plec (moving them over to a bigger tank btw) and my betta isn't bothered.

He's not bothered by the plec, he will wind up the tetras at times but never went for them. He'll do his winding up bit just before feeding time.

I wouldn't put him in with more than 1 other thing, just so that he has his space.

Could that be a Bristlenose plec? grow to about 6 inches as an adult

Yeh ive got a fighter with tetras see him stalking them sometimes but never actually does anything lol.

Was gonna find summin for the bottom of the tank, so the betta still has the rest of the tank, 4 glass cats would be nice to have in there i think but i dunno if the betta would bother them too much or what.

And yeh they are bristle nose's, will have somewhere to put them when they outgrow this tank

I would sway away from putting glass cats in with a betta, you might find one or two missing over time. A sturdier fish is better off, I would say a cory but never kept them, so don't really know. A fish that could hold it's own would be more appropriate, if it is to be only 1, with the betta.

As far as i'm aware, glass cats need to be kept as a group and need a bigger tank than 5gals unfortunately. If it were me I don't think i'd add anything else, except for maybe a couple of shrimp
