my betta keeps swimming next to my filter and gets well stuck to it by the suction of the pump im not sure if he does it on purpose what should i do

Bettas are notorious for doing poorly with filters. The current is often too much for them with all that finnage and they sometimes get stuck to the intake. Some fish will never get caught on an intake, some will get caught once and learn to avoid it, but others will get caught everytime you turn your back and the stress of it can kill them. Yours seems to be one of those who isn't going to learn to keep away so your best course of action is probably to remove him from the tank and put him in his own smaller tank (1 gallon or more).

i dont have another tank and also i have noticed he has only just started to chase other fish around. What wring with him? :(

It's just natural. I don't think i can think of any way to help except to buy a new tank. The betta tanks need to be 1 gallon or more, so you don't need to buy a huge tank. I think the price range will vary from $5- $20, but there might be higher or lower prices. For your betta's sake you should change him to a different tank. I don't think anything's wrong with him.

nothing from the sounds of it, he's being your average betta. Looking at your stocking list i'm not surprised he's chasing the other fish. bettas often don't distinguish colorful fish from other male bettas, especially those like guppies that have showy tails. [edit] also bettas and gouramis are from the same family (anabantoids) and it is very likely that they will fight constantly over territory as they will all occupy the same space.

Unless you want to start losing fish, you really need to give the betta his own place. meaning either his own small tank, or a divided section of the one he is in.

as one other sidenote, you should rehome those crabs to. besides there being no fully aquatic freshwater crabs, meaning you would have to proved a place where they can surface (which is more or less easy to remedy) they WILL eat your fish if given the chance. The folks over in the freshwater invertebrate section would know more though.
