betta heating

hi I want to buy a betta fish and was wondering whether I could use a halogen lamp to heat it or would I have to have a heater.

i heater is best unless ur room temp stays stedy.
i wouldnt use a lamp as the bright like wouldnt not go down well

I use a UV desk lamp. It keeps the water temp just right and my fish don't seem to mind at all.

What size tank were you planning to put him in? Were you planning on getting him neighbors? Unless your room is really cold in the summer you don't need a heater. I once heard this person say recently if your comfertable then they are to.
