I have a male betta and it has silvery scales on it's face between it's eyes going down almost to it's mouth. Could he be sick orcould this be from old age? He didn't have them before. We have had him for 2 years and he was already adult size when we got him.
thanks

What do you feed?

Does it look "glittery" at all"
What size tank is he in?
Is it filtered?

Could just be his colors changing as he matures, I have seen this multiple times in bettas I have cared for.

He is starting to get quite old. Their average lifespan is about 3 years but some live till 5 and when you buy them in shops they are usually 6 - 12 months old. My guess would be like a lot of other creatures on the planet he's going grey from old age :)
