I've had my Betta for a week now and I took him out of the tank so I could change his water... As I was putting him back in, I noticed that he has a patch of green on his chin... It's shiny like his other scales, but it concerns me. What could this be??? Is it normal???

Hi
When you say green, is it like on top his scales or does it resemble a sheen on his scales?

Is it the fish in your avatar?

No, that is not my fish, it's one that resembles my fish that I found on google. The green is a mix of white and green and it appears to be on top... Do you think it could be the start of velvet???

As far as i'm aware velvet isn't green? As you haven't had too long it may just be his natural colouring. We have males that have different colours, particularly over the head area. If he is acting normally and eating well I would be inclined to monitor him over the next few days and see how he goes. If you notice anything else let us know :good:

This is what i mean by diff colouring

Just put a picture on my previous post :good:
They do rest on the bottom, some more than others. It'll take you a while to get used to his personality and what he likes to do :good:

Wow, that is a beautiful lil guy! That is kind of what I'm seeing. You have just saved me from a night full of worry! Thanks a bunch!

No worries :good: They are not like any other fish, they have real personalities and do do the strangest things

So I see! I think he was cross with me because I shut his light off! lol! I turned his light on and all of a sudden he was very active again... Odd little creatures they are!
