Hey everyone!
So, I now am the proud owner of three Betta fish. I bought my most recent one because he was a beauty double-tail who was suffering from swim bladder disease. He's doing much better.

Two of the Bettas I own have white in them. My first Betta fish was red in the body with white flowing fins and a bit of red at the top. My other, newest Betta, was blue in the center with white fins. There was a mild tinge of pink and blue - he's stunning.

One thing I always notice with my Bettas though - they always change color. Typically, the color spreads through the white in their new tank.

Is this a genetic factor? Is white finnage a sign of poor health? What's going in...?

When a fish is white with another color, it has the marble gene. For some reason, marbled fish change their colors and pattern, and its not an indicator of bad health, so don't worry.. its a genetic thing. :) This is a pretty cool example of a marble changing.

For some reason though, I was always lucky.. None of my marbles ever changed :p

I find marble fish to be exciting, never knowing what colour they will change too..

Heres some of my marbles and how they changed..

Ended up like this - this was after he suffered fin rot so he is looking raggy
