Betta Feeding

On average it is used as a treat, I would recommend frozen over dried or live as it lasts much longer and defrost what you need without much waste. It is a number one known cause for constipation in bettas which is why it is recommended as treats with other varied food and not as a staple. :)

Agree with above.

All the best, I am sure your betta will love them, also they love peas and it is good practice to feed once a week as this helps with constipation and gives a varied diet (not sure if knew but thought would mention ;))

not meaning to hijack this thread but i got a betta on wed and i dont think he is feeding, ive put the odd betta pellet in and he aint shown any interest, i have normal flake food to and he dont seem interested in that either, i do have blood worm and tubifex that i havnt tried yet. does anyone have any help/info?

Hey hon, it is really common for bettas not to eat when you first get them, they are settling in etc. Just keep offering food and take out anything uneaten so it does not foul your water. Keep trying the pellets, if you are really worried do try some bloodworm (most love these!) but it shouldnt be a staple as mentioned above. Also most on here would not recommend flake food in the diet generally as it is not beneficial to them :)
Hope that has helped!

ok thanx has alot ill try to be patient lol how long should i give it untill i start getting worried?

Fish in general can go up to one-two weeks without food. There have been posts on here of bettas going a week before accepting anything. How is the tank setup, did you cycle the tank before getting the fish and has it got a heater? These may be factors for his behaviour :)

Fully cycled, heater, filter, decent filter not too powerful stream coming out of filter and temp at about 24ish degrees

Sounds perfect! Maybe up the temp a degree or two as they like 79/80F on average. Keep trying, keep us posted and fingers all crossed he will eat soon for you (really try the bloodworm that might just tempt him, try dropping in or holding by tips of fingers to make it look lively if not too squeamish) :)
