^ all of the above? Not sure I've had the fish for over 2 years. I use tap water and I let it sit for over 24 hours. I have a lamp near the tank to give it a little warmth when the AC is on.

Fish Symptoms (include full description including lesion, color, location, fish behavior): So I've had a betta fish for over 2 years now, and recently (within the past month) I have put it into a tank with another betta (it has a glass divider of course) for a while both fish were doing great, flaring their gills and making bubbles and what not. Recently I realized I started feeding the fish too much and I thought I was over feeding then when I noticed the older one was starting to swim to it's side. I do know that's what fish do when they are constipated and are fed too much but it's getting worse. I noticed about 3 days ago it was starting to swim on it's side and so I stopped feeding it. This morning it looked better so I fed it again and when I returned to my dorm after class it's a million times worse. It's literally lying on it's side at a 90 degree angle and only swims when the other fish goes to flare it's gills. It's mainly staying at the top of the water (not the bottom) and is rubbing the side of it's body on the glass. I removed the "sick" fish from the double tank figuring the healthy fish might be either aggrevating it or scaring it. Do you think it's dying? I mean I've had it for over 2 years and this is the first time it's ever seemed remotely sick, is it just old age or overfeeding??

Volume and Frequency of water changes: around every 2 weeks unless the water seems cloudy or filthy

Isn't the lifespan of a betta about 2 yrs, it could just be his time to go :/

if it's not that it could be something like a bacterial inmfection, have you tried treating with anything?

ok so a little update. I seperated the 2 fish because it looked like the newer/healthy one was bothering it. Over night I saw a huge pile of betta poop, so I am guessing that's a good sign? I don't know if he's healthy enough to put back in the double tank. Should I wait a little longer or put him back? and should I still give it some time before I feed him??

Feeding them to many dried foods which can lead to constipation and swim bladder, they need frozen foods and veg in there diet, cook some frozen peas for a few minutes, let cool, down, pop out of shell, mush between fingers, and add to the tank.
Sounds like he flushed himself through then, i would still feed them the peas, and make sure they have them at least twice a week, good luck.

Ok so it's late this same day I noticed my fish was doing alot better. I put him back into the double tank but I noticed another problem. I think because he was swimming on his side for so long he ruined his fins, is there something wrong with my fish? His fins are all worn out and colorless and I actually just noticed a few minutes ago that a large chuck of his fin was missing and I found it on the bottom of the tank. It was quite sad actually and looks painful. Should I go to walmart or a pet store and get some sort of fin medication?

He sounds in a bad way and he might not pull through he need quite a strong bacterial med, but he has got secondary infections and the odd go down.
