Hey, Here I am going to be posting everything to do with my bettas;
If one is sick, I will post it here.
When I breed, I will post pictures and diaries here.
When I buy new stuff, I will post pictures and descriptions...

OK, so as you may or may not know, I don't even own 1 betta yet, as I am busy making a plan.

THE PLAN

1. Buy a hang on filter and a heater for my small tank.

3. set up the small tank.

2. Cycle the small tank.

3. Buy 1 male betta.

4. Buy a 10 gallon breeding tank with a corner filter and heater.

5. Buy a tank to divide or buy many small tanks for male bettas with a hang on filter and heater or heat mat(s).

6. Buy a large tank for female bettas with a hang on filter and heater.

7. Buy a large grow out tank

7. Set up housing tanks.

8. Cycle housing tanks.

9. Buy 1 male betta and 1 female betta.

10. Set up breeding tank.

11. Cycle Breeding tank.

12. Introduce male and female with tall tank/bottle/vase/cup.

13. Make breed.

14. Follow on as needed...

Do you think the plan is what I should do, or do you disagree?

Also, I have created a shopping list to follow regarding what to buy.

SHOPPING LIST

3x Hang on filters
5x Heaters
1x 10gal tank
2x Corner filter
1x Bottle of Ammonia
1x tank to divide or many small tanks.
2x large tank

Do you think I have covered every item or do i need/not need anything?

It will take a long time to save up to pay for all this but I am madly in love with it already.

I have decided to show the shopping list cost estimation.

PRICE ESTIMATION
3x Hang on filters = £24
5x Heaters = £30
1x 10gal tank = £25
2x Corner filter = £10
1x Bottle of Ammonia = £4
1x tank to divide or many small tanks. = £25
2x large tank = £60

TOTAL ESTIMATE = £178
Rounded to = £200

Wow this sounds great! Good luck with your fish and I'll be keeping an eye for any updates!

£200 will take some making so it may be a while.
Would do it the cheap way if I could, but there is no cheap way...

I'll say it before and ill say it again - You get what you pay for matey. :good:

You forgot to put API test kit on your list, or do you already have one?

And I will be following this thread with passion.

Good luck mate :good:

You'll also have to think about where to house the female after spawning. It can be very stressful for them and putting them staight back into the female tank can cause problems for them. We lost a few females because of that when we first started which is why all our breeding females are housed separately now. It doesn't have to be big....just somewhere she can recover quietly for a few weeks.

I'm really stressing out.

With the things I have to sell I will no where near make £200.
I will make about £100

Stuck.

£200 is never going to come, no matter how many times I try working out a average.

Just think about it in the long run. You will make your money back, borrow some off someone? :good:

Like who, everybody I know is tight...

If you bought 2 large tanks, 1 small, and 1 divided then you would only need 3 hanging filters and for your breeding tank use a sponge filter. That would save you a bit because they are so cheap.

Or you could just save by buying only one large tank right now because some of your fry can stay in the 10 gallon while the others go to the larger tank... then you could work up to purchasing the second large tank by the time your first spawn is ready to be sold/given away.

Good luck!

I'm scared that the fish will grow on me, at the rate of which I am making money, the fish would be fighting with each other, and all would fail...

Would I be able to use this as the breeding tank?

I don't know how much it holds...

It looks big enough, I've heard you can breed in anything from 2 gal-10 gal (7.6 liters-38 liters) although the bigger the better! If it is smaller you'll definitely want a filter of some sort so you won't have to do as many water changes.

Just trying to take a few things of the shopping bill, £200 would take FOREVER to make...
