Hello everybody. I have been doing research and I think it would be nice to keep a beta. After all I do feel bad for them because of the condidtions they have to endure when they are in the store.

Anyways, I have a 10 gallon tank that is currently cycling (fishless). I am planing on stocking it with 4 or 5 Flame Tetras, 2 mystery snails and 1 ghost shrimp. Do you think I could somehow add a beta too or would that be a little on the crowded side? Also if I can should it be female or male?

Thanks :).

I wouldn't in this case - I think there's the risk the tetras could be very nippy towards to betta and do serious damage to its fins.
