I have a 48litre tank.
Really would like 1 male batta, but would like some other fish to go alongside him as well. I understand I could have a few Cory's, but are there any other top/middle level fish I can keep with the Betta - like Danio's?

Danios are rathey nippy and a bit active for bettas liking. Pygmy cories spend most there time in the mid region :good:

Absolutely! Pygmy cories would be excellent companions as a mid region fish. A minimum group of 6 would be ideal!

There is a post on here somewhere (cant find the link right now) To a page that shows beta's companions quite well and how they would get on. :) Hope this helps.

Im sure someone can drag it up :)

So, a male betta as a 'show fish'.
6 Pygmy Cories.

Anything else?

I believe neon tetras would make good betta companions as well, provided there are at least six of them.

Cool thanks - as I only have a 48 litre tank, that would probably be my max?

i have a male betta and 4 endlers in a 32l tank, no problems. but the betta i have is very calm and good-natured, used to have him in a community tank till he got fin-nipped by my danios (i think), so he moved to his own tank and i added the endlers, never had a problem

I've got my male betta with guppies, loads of emperor tetras and they are all fine together. When I first put him in the tank, he had a look but then left them alone.

I have an extremely grumpy Betta and he gets along with my cardinal tetras, and corys (well, tolerates them...) I was told once that the rule of thumb is to never put anyone in there that is prettier than him :) I did have a glo danio in there once and he was annoyed with him because he never sat still, my betta would occasionally chase him off.

I may just get a few Mollies - a Black, a Silver, and an Orange.
Ive been told these will not nip fins etc at all.......?

Im looking to upgrade the tank very soon, so it would only be temporary for now.....just need to know if they are fin nippers and OK with a Betta!
