I am planning on getting my other half a Male Betta very soon and I'm noticing that there are very few in communities. I know that these fish can be aggressive so can I have only the success stories of a community with a Betta please.

I am planning on a Betta breeding project as well so a mini breeding setup is on the cards but not just yet

Thanks Kev

Male bettas can live happily in a community tank, as long as you think it through i.e.b top, middle and bottom dwellers, lots of plants and hiding places, break up a line of sight.

I personally wouldn't put a male betta in a community tank, less that 35-40ltrs but that is me personally.

You may want to read this but I wouldn't recommend doing that to anyone, who hasn't got that much experience with bettas and you need dedicated time to sit and watch.

Bettas are bred for color these days and not aggression but you still get the odd one. Flaring is just a warning, it's the nipping and lip locking you have to be weary of :good:

Suitable communities? hmmm........depends on the tank size but i would say harlequin rasboras, corys, amano shrimp, some tetras but not all (fin nippers), my guppies get on well and my apistos are no bother.

If you can run a community set up with a betta, then it will be good to do so but I am on the side that says they are good in communities.
