I was wondering what other fish or invertibrates for that matter can peacefully live with a betta. I can't find anything on here. I currently have a frog and a betta in a 25 gallon planted tank. I'm thinking of adding some form of alge removal animal and some other betta friendly fish for sure.

You may struggle to find fish that will live peacefully with your Betta, especially as he is in the tank already and will be territorial. You may get away with some type of shrimp but fish like Plecos require plenty of water flow, whereas your Betta prefers still water.

I have a 30 gallon biowheel filter running already. I have a 5 or so gallon tank. Could I remove him and reintroduce him later? Say a week or so or would that risk multiple tank syndrome?
ottos are good algae eaters but need a mature tank
Yes this tank is only about a month old. I was thinking perhaps a trumpet snail since I've read that they eat left over foods and stir substrate to keep harmful pockets of gas from forming easily.

with a 5 gal tank i wouldn't add anythig else, maybe antoher frog as long as it is an African DWARF frog not African CLAWED frog

If you have a 5G tank the you are best keeping your Betta in there on his own. They are solitary fish and don't require tankmates so he'll be more than happy in that size tank. It also means that you can adjust the flow on the filter so it barely moves the surfacewhich is how he'll prefer it. That way, you'll leave yourself with more options for the bigger tank. :good:

my betta lives quite happily with 2 silver sharks, one plec and 5 cardinal tetras. depends on his personality.

He's afraid of his own reflection.

The 5 gallon tank is empty currently. It is also undergravel filtered.

I can't see a problem with keeping the frog in there with him too although I'm not sure if they require more water flow or not. Hopefully someone else will be able to help you out there.

I had an idea. What if I were to divide the tank? say a fifth of it sectioned off for the betta. Then I could put whatever I wanted on the other 4/5. And I could do it in a manor where the betta section is farthest away from the current flow. :hyper: :good:

Well, I just added 4 small julii cory to my 24 gallon tank with my crowntail, it with has tons of driftwood and plants, since I have hight light 64 watts and lots of plats and driftwwod, and tons of algae they seem to be getting along ok.

At first when I first put them in my betta( still in the bag to aclamate them, he flarred up real bad, and didn't attack them when i released them in with him, but was following them around real close all pumped up.

then when he would go up and flare at one they would come togeather and he would bolt off like a rocket, lol

and he stayed at the top of the tank, now 3 hours latter he is going back to the bottom and is actully poking plants and the substrate (eco-complete) like they are doing, and when he goes to the top for air, he bolts up supper fast like they do, they swim nonstop to the top of the tank, middle, and stay at the bottom also, but they are all over that tank.

sometimes they run into him and he bolts a little, but I think he is getting used to them as he don't look as stressed as he did, and he is eating like a hog again, lol.

funny thing is, is that the corys usally are solo, they are not grouping a whole lot ,but going where ever they want.

Well, as I look over, it seems he is blowing a few bubbles now nd again in a corner, so he must not be to mad, lol

I am going to do water change and clean tomarrow a little off the glass, and will try to post some pics of them when its cleaner.
