Behind a little bubbling cave.
I have a couple set-up, i.e. female in a small container, malee building bubblenest, but I need help: when I let the female out, the male attacks her and ignores nest construction. HELP! :shout:

Is this your first time breeding?

Is the female ready to spawn? Is she really plump with eggs?

How long has she been in the tank with him?

How long has he been working on his nest?

How old are they?

yes this is normal,if the female bars up nicely and nest is good then go ahead and release here.there will be nipped fins but do NOT tollerate damaged bodies.

I think I'm one of the really lucky ones.... I never had my male and female go after each other. In fact, when I first got them, they lived in a bowl together until I was told that that was bad for them..... I guess nobody had ever told them that they shouldn't be getting along. :look:

Is the female barred?
Are they both showing interest?
Have you conitioned the pair?
Chasing is normal, if his nest is already built he'll probably ignore it and wait for the female to check it out.

Thank you. The female is barred, and does get nipped fins. As of age I do not know. They were well conditioned on freeze dried tubifex and copepods. How much construction is due? The female has been with the male in a container for a couple weeks.

I only had my female in a container within the spawning tank for less than 24 hours. I can't imagine having her in there for weeks.
