would a betta and x-ray tetra be able to go together and also would platys:hey:

how big is the tank?
should be fine. just make sure you have a back up just incase the betta kicks off.

i know i cant have one in a 34litre tank with 13 fish iu just wondewred beacuase i thougt tetras were fin nippers

people say there are but tbh ive never had that problem with tetras i think alot of people just see people saying they had a tetra that nipped and think ever tetra does when they have never had it happen.

I keep 10Neons and 10Runny Noses together and if had no problem. But some can be different, the neons might go for the betta if it gets hurt.

No. Tetras are notorious fin nippers.

There will always be the odd one or two people who have been liucky but as a general rule, bettas should not be kept with tetras of any kind.

Platies I would also say no as they are much stronger swimmers than the betta, and will outcompete for food, and may bully and barge him around.

Bottomfeeders like cories are safe and do not nip, and for midwater swimmers, Endlers livebearers (NOT fancy guppies! ) and tiny fish like chilli rasboros and rice fish have been kept with bettas with reasonable success. Shrimp and snails are safe too.

i dont think you can say that about all tetras ive had quite a few diffrent tetras and none of them have ever nipped other fish. platys are fine with bettas alot of people keep them together and have no problems. some bettas are perfectly fine with fancy guppies it just depence on the betta.

I can vow to that, have kept neon tetras with all of the 3 bettas I've owned, also in 7/8 years of fish keeping I have yet to see a neon tetra nip fins.

im scared of getting the wrong 1 if i were to get 1

just give it a go and see what happence if the worst happence just make sure you have a back up plan.

lol my bro has one with platys but in my 34litre tank i have 10 xrays 1 botia kubotai 1 hill stream loach and a small bn pleco 5cm so not enough room

My betta barges platys out the way, he is the king of the tank.

My female betta was with a platy and it nipped her fin. Also, the quick movement of the fish stressed her out. She was also that way with the rasboras that were in her tank for a short time. She was very pale looking while with those fish. After they were taken out, her color deepened up to a rich dark blue.
