If it's the breeding pair as you say in your sig, they'll kill pretty much anything that comes too close.

I would say it's time to research kribs and read some threads in the African forum. I have never had a krib, and I know they are very aggressive fish. Bettas and Africans need very different kinds of conditions. African Cichlids in general need aggressive filtration as they are generally dirty fish. Bettas like still water.
African cichlids in particular are aggressive fish and their housing is very speciallized.
