Hi there, am I right in thinking it's a bad idea to have a male betta and any kind of gourami?
I want a few more colourful fish once my tank has settled from a possible white spot breakout, as my neons and my betta are the only fish that really pop at the moment. I love the look of dwarf gouramis but I'm sure I've read you can't mix them with bettas.
If not, can anyone recommend a small (2.5 inches at most) very colourful and peaceful fish? I have neons, harlequin rasboras, cherry barbs, cories and a betta at the moment.
Thanks, Amy xx

My male and female Betta get on fine with my pearls and honey gourami. They are in a 140g so lots of room for everyone.

Hmm see I only have a 70 litre so was looking at smaller gourami such as the dwarves but have been told they can be quite grumpy and aggressive towards others? Is it just dwarf gourami and are your guiramis an exception to the rule?

I don't know, I've always had success with Honey Gourami. I must have been lucky with how they paired up. At the moment I have male and female pearls and male and female honeys in my tank together. I've also tried croaking and kissing gourami. I found that all my gourami got along with each other but I did have an issue when I went from 1 kissing gourami to 3. They got a bit aggressive with my catfish for some reason. But I've not had an issue with them getting on with each other. So I can't speak for those dwarf blue types or the blue and red ones as I've never had them. I've seen the blue ones separated by sex so I'm assuming the males and females don't care to be with each other that much.

I had a Dwarf and a Betta in the same tank, but it was a 300ltr.

Both fish are placid and show no aggression tho, so it's probably a bit hit and miss and will depend on your fish.

my male gets on ok with my 1 Dwarf Gourami and my 2 kissing Gourami. :)
Methinks you shouldn't be advising other people with their stockings, no offence but I think your 65l stocking is absolute atrocious. I'd get it sorted if I were you
