Hi,

I'm just starting my first serious aquarium. I assume I need to wash the gravel before putting it in. If so, how on earth do I wash 35 kilos of gravel?

Put the gravel in a bucket that has not been used for cleaning or had any soap in,maybe half a bucket at a time, rinse throughly with clean water & by stirring it,some people leave a hosepipe running through it...
If your tank is in situ, then pour each lot of washed gravel in the tank.

the cleaner you get the gravel, the less cloudiness you will have in the tank :)

I put it into a bucket and turn the tap on and use the hose to stir up the gravel while the hose is still running. Then once the bucket is getting fill tip out the water onto the garden and repeat.

......or get an electric toothbrush and scrub each stone until done  On reflection I'd go with the previous suggestion :good:

I must be feeling better, the old Doresy humour is creeping back :fun:
