Best Way To Reseal A Tank

I just dug out my 20 long that has been in storage since my mom found it for me and a 30 gallon. After giving them a good once over I decided I'm not comfortable putting water in the 20 due to the current sealant. I'm a bit worried about the 30 also. My question is whats the best way to reseal a tank?
