ok i want to add around 7 + new female bettas to the tank. it did have 6 females but 1 died 2 weeks ago very mysteriously, anyways ive kept an eye on the tank over the past fortnight and everything seems fine, id like a large amount of females anywhere between 10 - 13 but my tank contains 1 krib ( very peaceful ) 2 bronze corys whats the maximum amount of females i could add?
now for the other problem i understand that if i add new females my current 1s will savage them whats the best way to add the new ones then? i would like to avoid having to remove and then put back my current females but will do it if that is what i must do, but do i realy have to rearrange my decor? i like how i have got it and dont realy want to have to rearrange it if i must then i will but if possible i am desperate to avoid this.
thanks, james :good:

THe best way is to take them all out, move all the plants deoroations, anything you can, then put all the females back in at the same time, then watch very closely very very closely. you might ahave to separate a few that are going to fight, but eventually you should be able to get them all in there together. remember to have alot of hiding spots and have alot of room! you might even have to get a few in there own tanks if they fight to bad.

sorry i didnt read your last part of you post.

yes you will have to take them out and reagange everything. if you dont or if your tank is to small and theres not enough laces for the fems to hide they WILL kill each other. but thats why you should make sure you have time to watch them.

I would recommend at least a 25 usg tank for more than 10 females. You could have the two Cories with them in that size, but I am not sure about the krib. You will want to add more Cories to the group sometime. Cories should be kept in minimum of groups of 5 of the same species when possible.

You say your other female died mysteriously?

ive not had the corys long but am planning on rehoming them anyway (a freind has a 125 ltr tank with 3 bronze and 3 assorted corys an ive agreed he can have mine as a late christmas present lol)
now as for tank mine is 96 litres i was told that my tank would be ok for 15 female bettas as long as the krib is peaceful, and he is definetly peaceful

Generally 5 female Betta per 10 usg. But I don't know how dirty kribs are or if their personality changes as they age. Bettas can be more highly stocked. Many Cichlids are very dirty fish. If a krib is a messy eater, then the tank must be maintained more often. Bettas often require different maintenance than other tropicals, including the use of salt and fasting days. They are piggies and will over eat, then they may get constipated. They are also very suseptible to fin rot. So they require clean water.

All kribs are different.. some can be psychos, while others are very calm..

I would keep 10 females max in a 25g tank... even then that's probably a little much.. probably will have lots of nipped fins.
