hey.
i havent got any real plants in ym tank atm, but because my nitrate lvls are too high, i need to get some. But how do i get the compost/soil under my sand without it going everywhere :/ i had an idea of putting the soil in a container, the right sorta size, and then burrying that, but will that do anything to the plants ?

any help needed :good:

also about CO2. do i need ? how much do i need ? costs ?

thnx

Adding plants like hornwort will help bring your nitrate levels down. Plants use nitrate as one of their first choices for food. Also if you can, add more biological filter media to your filter, this will also help.

I suggest you read the pinned articles at the top of this forum, all you may need to know is in there, and after that ask to your hearts content.

One way of adding soil to your substrate is by freezing it. Find an old ice cube try and add damp soil to that and freeze. When its frozen you can simply berry it under your gravel. Make sure you put it real low down, and for now only put it where your plants are.

Co2 is another big topic. If you read the pinned threads you will be more clued up.
