Hi,

Just lost my first fish with dropsy (my male dwarf gourmi  ) as one of the symptoms. I know there can be many causes, but has anyone succesfully treated a fish with dropsy back to health, or is it the final nail in the coffin as far as fish health goes?

I've never heard of anyone confirming first hand that they've cured dropsy  I've seen it a few times and to be honest, I just euthenise as soon as I spot it. I understand it can be treated if you spot it early enough but by the time the pine cone symptom's happened it's already too late :(

Wilder - you remember that black mollie I had with it's scales sticking out a few weeks ago. After it had the saddleback style fungus.

I took him out quickly and dabbed methylene blue on both sides of his body and he's fine now. he cleared up within a few days.

I cannot confirm however that it was dropsy. just that both sides of his body were completely pineconed pre methylene blue.

Maybe helps probably not, but worth a shot.

Anything worth a shot in issolation that the whole point of it really.
Methylene blue meant to be good on columnaris in the early stages, but don't think it would do anything for dropsy though, but thanks for sharing.
Glad your fish get back to full health, well done. :good:
