hey everyone, i have just got a a new tank its two foot long, well i want to just keep guppies in it and i was wondering if coral sand would be ok, its just that i have some left that i have not used in my marine tank.

Um, im not a expert when it comes to marine so i cant really help you there. But imo, the best subrate for guppies is Sand. Normal playsand is fine, just make sure you churn it every now and again so the toxic gases can escape before they can build up to a toxic level to kill the fish!.

The coral sand will drive the pH up so it depends where it is already. If the tap pH is over 7.2, you don't need the extra help of coral sand. I like large gravel for typical livebearers unless I can get lots of other cover for the fry. They will sccot down between the grains of large gravel to hide from hungry mouths if there is not better place to hide.
