I'm about to setup my first marine tank. Its a 180 UK litre Juwel Vision.

Which skimmer would be best, and easiest to fit on the tank?

Oh and the best place to buy in UK, either Internet or SE region.

Cheers ;)

I've been looking at the internal Deltec MC500, seems to have good ratings and will be nice and neat in my tank.

Does anybody have any comments either for or against this skimmer?

I've seen it for £167.95 delivered, does anyone know anywhere that is cheaper than this?

Cheers guys :)

My choice (and the choice of many others) would be the deltec MCE500 or better still MCE600. Unless your happy with a largish black box filling the tank it's best to go external to save swimming/stock space.

mc500 internal
mce500 external

Easy to make mistake when purchasing.

Ah, didn't know there was an MCE500 and an MC500...

The only reason I went for the internal MC500, was that it fits quite easily into my Vision 180, do you know if the external one is just as easy to fit on this tank?

Cheers,

Everything I've heard from you guys over on the other side of the pond says that Deltec makes a great skimmer. Good choice :good:

If you can find it, and are prepared to pay for the best, then try looking into Tunze skimmers. I know someone who has both Deltec and Tunze and he reckons the Tunze pwns the Deltec.

OK, I've been looking at Tunze ones. Tunze Skimmers

The TUNZE DOC NANO SKIMMER 9002 is about ~£90 but the other one I am looking at, the Deltec MC500, is about £170.

Both are internal, but the Deltec would be compatible for larger tanks if I wanted to upgrade.

However back to back, which is best?

TUNZE DOC NANO SKIMMER 9002 or Deltec MC500?
