Best Plant Fert To Encourage Algae Growth

so i recently bought 2 hillstream loaches i think and as such i have found that they like live algae for food as well as pellets and live food. i think that the best way to grow it is to have some tank water left in daylight for a couple days with a rock in the tank for the algae to grow in,
i was just wondering the best thing to add to the water to help the growth along so to speak.

Some people just add some fish food and let it rot.
