Hello all! I am having some tummy issues with my Betta. He bloats very big after I give him food and I am pretty sure he is constipated. I bought some pellets from the breeder I got my betta from but it is hard for him to swallow them. So what is the best Betta foods they sell in Petsmart or Petco? What are your thought on freeze dried food? I have been feeding him freeze dried blood worms. Also, I have tried pees for my Betta and obviously it didn't help. Is there any other cheap remedies? Your help is very much appreciated.

if your betta is constipated , but wont eat the peas you can try an epsom salt bath. in a seperate container mix epsom salt at a ratio of 1 tbsp per gallon and piut the fish in it for 15 to 20 mins ( bath must obviously be same temp as you tank. ) this should loosen any blockage . you can repeat this a couple of times a day , but this treatment is obviously stressfull for fish , so if you can get it to eat peas that would be better .

Switch him to flake food if pellets are blocking him up, and dont feed freezedried. Frozen bloodworms are better (and they sell them at petco/petsmart). Also, do not overfeed.
Bettas in general are prone to constipation (and overfeeding). Really they should only be eating about 2-3 pellets every other day. They have small stomachs and short digestive tracts which makes them prone to constipation.
The epsom salt baths have always done the trick for me (as mentioned above). If no tankmates (some are sensitive to epsom salt, and other salts) can add one Tablespoon/5 gal directly to the tank (just dissolve the epsom in a little tankwater before adding to the tank). You can easily and cheaply find epsom salt in any pharmacy (even the grocery store with the over-the-counter meds). A giant box of the stuff is like $2. Just make sure it doesnt have any scent additives (people use them for sore muscles and tired feet in a hot bath-many times they put lavender and other scents in them...you want just plain epsom salt (magnesium sulfate)).
all the best
cheers
