Best Internal Filter ?

Hiya guys, i am having trouble with noisy filters. I have tried 2 u4's now and both have an annoying rattle sound to them. There is no air or grit in the impeller so i know its not that. The noise gets louder when i put the filter in the holder, then the noise comes through the glass. It is driving me crazy. Can someone tell me what the best and quietest internal filter is please. Thanks.

Well, I clicked on your thread to recommend the U series, so... I have no idea; my tanks all run on either U series or APS externals now.

What size tank? I'd recommend an external over internals any day of the week, specifically brands such as APS (as Fluttermoth mentioned), Eheim, Rena or Tetratec.

I agree with above. Most filters should be very quiet when operating correctly. It's usually something vibrating on the trim or glass of the tank that makes any noise. I can't imagine u getting two filters and having both of them be defective. Unless u have extremely bad luck!

Thats what i was thinking crazy, how could 2 filters be the same. I have stripped it right down and put it back together without getting any air in it. Its better but not silent. I can live with this amount of noise now though. I was thinking of an external filter, i have a 40 gal tank.
