I'm worried that my plecos aren't getting much food. I do put down algae wafers for them, but the swordies and gourami fight over them and finish them off (even if I feed after lights out) and the plecos don't seem interested.

Does anyone know anything especially pleco-delicious?

I have one bulldog plec about 2" long and one 'imperial pleco' which I think is some kind of Hypancistrus sp. about 2.5" long.

Thanks!

Sarah

Not sure what they relish, but you could also try shrimp pellets.

Have you tried feeding them after lights out so the other fish don't find the food?

I think you call it courgette in the UK. Here we call it zucchini. Plecos love 'em. Hold it down with a rubberband to a rock, or clip it on the side of your tank with a veggie clip :D

Hmm.

Mine did go for those as well. Make sure to remove the leftovers after your plec is done. Mine also went after cooked (semi) spinach as well.

I have never had much luck with courgette/zuchini so I would like to know how you guys prepare it.

My plecs go a lot more on cucumber but they have to compete then with the clown loaches who love it too. I feed it after lights out and the tank has gone quiet ie. tiger barbs have gone to bed :)

Hikari algae wafers mine definately love and even my angelicus will come out in the open to eat these. :D again I feed 4 or 5 at a time as other fish love them too.
