I was just wondering what is the best food for corys ? As i bought a few and they dont really seem to be eating much.

Thanks for looking.

If they are recent(as in the past 24 hours) then they could still be adjusting to the new enviroment.

Sinking pellets and wafers are good for bottom feeders. I haven't kept cories yet, so I can't suggest a particular brand, sorry.

I have always just thrown in extra flake food for my cory cats at feeding time, as well as a few generic sinking goldfish pellets (protein rich variety.) They have grown a lot in the last 5 years, and appear quite happy with their diet.

Thanks guys

Guppydude do your corys just eat the flake that floats to the bottom or come up to eat it ?

I use Tetramin sinking pellets. I have 4 juli cories. I cut the pellets into thirds (roughly) and I still think my other fish get more than the cories. My cories have never swam off the bottom to grab flakes. They do appear to like frozen brine shrimp when it gets down to them.

Ok thank you.

Ill look out for catfish pellets, where can i get them from and are they small and round or flat like the algae wafers ?

Mine eat pretty much anything that hits the bottom of the tank that they can fit in their mouths, like algae wafers(tabs/disks) algae pellets, various other types of pellet food, flakes, granules, frozen brine shrimp, frozen bloodworm (their favourite) and they will nibble at cucumber and courgette.

Thankyou for all the help everyone i (and the corys im sure) appreciate it.

Ill look out for jmc pellets then. Are they small enough for the small young corys to eat ?

Are algae wafers the small round grey discs ? if they are then i have tried them and they didnt touch them, could it be that they are just settling in ? ive had them 3 days now.

jmc pellets are good but if you cant get them look for king british pellets.

i feed mine king british pellits,
frozen foods blood worm,dafnia,brine shrimp
and cruched flake

Hi fatfishman :)

Corys do best when they have a diet high in protein. This can be eaten in the form of live, frozen or freeze dried tubifex or black worms. They also need the nutrition found in good quality flake or pellet food. Do not skimp on this product; buy a good one. Hikari bottom feeder wafers or Wardley's spirulina disks are good for them on occasion too, and will round out their diet with some "veggies."

Ok thanks alot everyone.

I bought some jmc catfish pellets which they seem to enjoy ^_^

I will look out for some freeze dried tubifex and black worms cheers again everyone :good:
