I was wondering what the best filter setup would be.

I came up with this multi-stage sump system :

Can anyone improve on this design, or have one of their own?

FYI : this is just for fun, I'm not actually planning on building this :D

Looks impressive to me, don't no a thing about them.

here's the design of my sumps-

first stage is mechanical psonges above water level, then it goes through a course bio media (to take up space omre than anything!) then Substrat pro for some proper biological filtration.

then i have the next bay loaded with filter floss, the others are free for carbon and such like the last but 1 is for heaters then the last section is where the pump sits.

your last filter tank on it would be quite pointless, as when you use a sump for your self you realise how much oxygen is put into the water through dropping into the sump.

i woudl swap your bio and micron filter cannisters round and put some sponges in the best tank stage.

What you're showing is basically a Lifeguard Rainbow system (simpler setup than your diagram) with sumps involved. Not a bad idea.

i dont see the point of the powerhead, its not like the water is just sitting there. the canister would be pointless. bioballs would be a better and cheaper way for biological filtration cause you wont have to worry about opening it.
