Best Filter For A 20gal High?

This tanks been planted for at least a year, but it has very few fish in it(hoping on getting some soon). It is heavily planted and at the moment it has a Fluval 2 internal. I dislike this filter very much cuz the plants clog it up within a few days . So i'm looking for a better filter, I'm thinking of a Rena xp1 as I'm familar with this brand. But I also know that the Fluval canisters are popular. Which one would be best for a planted tank?

I have the EX700 on my 29G High. Came with all the media, inlet pipe, spray bar, 2 x 2m hoses and is dead easy to setup and disconnect for cleaning etc (must follow the instructions though which are simple enough)
