Best Aquarium Dechlorinator

Go with Prime. Had a rep from Tetra give a demonstration last year at a club meeting, Prime & Aquasafe came out on top, but since Prime treats more gallons per dollar, go with that. The rep even stated that.

Tolak, where does stress coat comeup on the list, and what qualities put aquaplus and prime at the top?

I use stress coat as it treats the largest volume of water when compared to cost, a 16fl oz (475ml) bottle with squirty cap treats 960 US gallons (3635L) which lasts me a month and only costs £12. It also is available in a 5 litre bottle at an even better cost which is what i plan to get next time. http://www.theaquariumshop.co.uk/aquarium-...-coat-o-98.html

Can I ask can they all be mixed? I mean I have used tetra safe bottle is finished can I use another next change.?

I use Stress Coat also. Regardless of what you use, make sure it "removes chlorine" and doesn't just neutralize it. Also, you don't want a dechlorinator that says it "removes ammonia" because your tank will no cycle.

I use Aquasafe, and has never let me down yet. Occasionally i use stresscoat, but if you are trying to htach out things like cory eggs, i have heard it can prevent them from hatching- i only use stresscoat in my quarentine tank really.

Some of them like the API one are so concentrated that for a 25% water change on a 180 litre tank, you would need sub 1ml.. which is odd..

i was talking about this is the live chat yesterday. I get confused when you read the sides of the bottle.. it talks about doses for chloramines and doses for chlorine. I take it you do the chlorine instructions for water changes.. but what about the chloramine instructions.. you put more in?? confusing.. :(

API Stress Coat has 2 different (maybe 3) dechlorintors. I know they have a pond version that is more concentrated. I'm sure that's simply because you would need such a large amount for a 2000 pond compared to a 75 gallon tank. Stress Coat also just lists one dosage for removing chlorine/chlroamine. That is 1 tsp per 10 gallon of water. They suggest 1 tsp per 5 gallon to help relieve stress and replace the slime coat. I usually just squirt it in the tank.

I prefer Prime. Doesn't Stresscoat contain aloe vera? In the pass I used Stresscoat but had a foaming problem. Started using Prime and it went away.
