Hello I'm New.

I am new to planted tanks. I have a 12G small rectangular aquarium, and I would like to setup a planted tank.

I am planning to use the following.

Substrate : Seachem Flourite Black : http://www.aquaticsexpress.co.uk/product.p.../&source=fr
Lights : Fluorescent 18W 1.5 WPG

These are the plants I was thinking of putting in:

Twisted Vallis
Java fern
A variety of Anubias need to do some research on the most suitable. ( size, easy of care and growing speed )

I am looking for a carpet type plant that will suit my aquarium to in the foreground. Which would you guys recommend?

Also are the other plants I have chosen a good choice? Are there any others you would recommend for a noobie to planted tanks.

Thank you for your time. o/

For a carpet plant I recommend getting some plastic crate (the cross stuff) or rough slate, then using a hairnet to attach loads of java moss. This makes it easy to control the shape and size of your carpet and it grows easily.

Search java moss carpet on google images and you will see how it looks.

Cool I will be trying some Java moss then.

What about my other bits.

Is the substrate I have chosen good enough on it's own? Or would it need additional things to help the plants?

Are the other plants I have chosen good for a newbie?

the other plant choices are fine, crypts are another good plant choice for that sort of tank.
you will probably want to add some sort of fert to the water column also, tpn+ seems a popular choice.

Would I have enough light for HC do you think?
