Ok, so I've had my tank for exactly 1 year now, and I just tested and my nitrates are down to <5. And since it was my bday last week, I have a large sum of money to spend on the tank. I am wondering what are some good beginner corals to put in this tank, and also coral freindly colorful fish. (right now I have a blue velvet damsel and a tomato clown)

Well, whats your lighting on the tank? If its low, start with mushrooms, star polyps, zooanthids/palythoas, or leathers. And if its moderate, you could try some easier lps like brain corals or euphylla genus (hammer, frogspawn, torch, galaxea) types. They're all pretty non-demanding

Edit: As for fish, the damsel needs to go first, and then you could think about adding some smaller fairy or flasher wrasses

its moderate.....i think, a 48inch t-8 actinic and 48 inch t-8 daylight 18,000 kelvin

Two tubes only? Thats actually a little on the lower side ;). I'd stick to some softies until you get a little stronger lighting in there. Mushrooms and leathers would do great under that lighting. And there are some pretty fancy ricordea out there (mushrooms).

well I think as long as your damsel has a non aggressive attitude, and doesnt nip fins or anything that you might be able to pull having a damsel off, but most of the time they are no good its your choice, as for corals Ide say uuum nuthing cuz theres alot out there :) but uuum Your tank is a good size for I think an angel or something like that, maybe you can be daring and shop around for a copperband they are beautiful... but be cautious, If you want more fish take a smart step and get all your fish, then wait until there is no sighn of desease, if there r treat em, then add corals, its alot better because you dont need a quarantine tank :) just an idea. I wish I would have done it.
