im in the process of cycling and was wondering what warter treatment you would recomend? i did have a sachet of stress coat and stress zyme what do these do and are these vital? reason i ask is i added thess to the warter but then the other day i removed all the warter and have started a fresh and was wondering will i need more zyme/coat? thanx guy's

im also going to purchess a warter test kit tomorow and some amonia if i can :good:

Hi

Stress coat is a water conditioner that removes chlorine from the water. Stress zyme is pretty useless at anything LOL

Every time you add water to the tank you need to treat that water with something like stress coat first :good:

When you get your test kits, APi liquid ones are best, and your ammonia, pick up some conditioner/dechlorinator like stress coat.

If the water has been in few days dont worry about adding conditioner now.

What filter are you using?

i have herd them artificial plants that i have in my biorb are no good for bettas as there fins are delicate so that will be swaped for a silk plant also today :) im also going to look for a small cave like hide out as i herd that bettas like to hide away :good: if anyone else can think what else i may need that would be great!!!

todays shoping list.....

warter conditioner
amonia
warter tester
silk plant
cave
heater

Looks fine so far. Is that bubbling from the filter across the top of the bio orb. If so you may want to slow it or use a sponge filter. Bettas don't like alot of flow because of their large fins and they also take their air from the surface of the water, so will need it to be much calmer :good:

thanx netty :) yes thats the filter causing the bubbling maybe if i add more warter two the tank it will not bubble as much as the bubles will have deeper warter to travel to thge surface in there for reducing the pressure they hit the surface if you know what i mean :S lol if that dont work then ill change the sponge like you say :good: your betta in your sig looks lovely great colouring. :good:

A college was speaking to Dr, Burgess the other day about stress zyme (and related stressy products), and he said they do actually reduce stress indicative hormone pattenrs

I never thought they did anything but he said he had run tests on them and they reduce stress levels in most fish
