Very nice!
Thanks guys :good: i'm pretty pleased with it. have done a few more bits today and tidied up a bit, unfortunately its caused a bit of restructuring of the hierarchy, and they are all squabbling now!
got some more photo's coming soon. of the tank and the fish. (lots of them sorry)
i like it, it looks huge, sure the girls love it :good:
looks nice how big is the tank?
Thanks :D its 4' by 12" by 15" but with the substrate the depth is actually more like 12" so its approx 30Gal

Currently got 16 girls in there.

ok so here are the multitude of pics of the tank and the girls in it. sorry there are so many, i got a bit snap happy! (and you should see how many i deleted!)

looking really good!

That is a huge tank for bettas. :good:

I think a darker background would compliment a planted tank like that (black even).

edit: what are those? fire eels?

i have thought about going for a black background, and may even get round to it at some point. but at least the bark effect is better than the plant effect one i used to have

they are khuli loaches (sometimes spelt coolie) i have 7 of them, 4 of the striped ones, and 3 of the black ones (like the one under the log) they have a reputation for being very shy, and never being seen, but i find if you have enough hiding spaces and a decent size group, that they are pretty sociable, and i also find that the black ones tend to hide more than the stripy ones.
they look really cute when they coil up in a pile together, or wrap themselves up in a plant, (they look like snakes in a tree)
edit: oh, and they need a fairly soft substrate, preferably not gravel. i have a soil/clay based substrate, but sand is good too.

plus i also have a bristlenose plec, who you can just spot in the picture with the black khuli loach, if you look closely.

They are awesome. I didn't think they were fire eels or tirerack eels, but was unsure. Was about to caution you that those would be bad tankmates if they in fact were . Obviously I know nothing about IDing them though :p

I love bristlenose plecs. I would have one if the LFS had some that were big enough to take abuse from my Oscar. He is a feisty little guy and has already harassed the living hell outta my 6" Sailfin Plec

Thx for postin up all those pics.

yeah there's no way he could live with our oscars! even fully grown he's far too small. we have a common plec who is about 12" and a rusty plec about 6" in with the oscars, plus the silver dollars, and a rescued clown loach, who outgrew the tank he was in at a friends house.

Thx for postin up all those pics.

sorry there are so many of them! i got a bit carried away.

are you still planning on making a sig for me at some point? if not, don't worry, i understand that real life comes first  but just realised i never gave you any pics to work with.

I think i saw a male! haha jk. VERY impressive sorority tank! Where'd you get teh background?
