My friend decided she no longer wanted to be a mama to her betta -
and since I love fish she decided I should be the new owner...ok no problem.

I just used a tank divider to section off part of my guppy tank for his new home, I placed a few plants in it, a couple of water sprite along the top for his bubble nest and grabbed some color enhancing betta bites...anything else I need to know for the little guy?

As soon as he arrives (in about an hour or two) I will take his picture so you can help me figure out what kind of betta he is!

All she could tell me was that he was "bluish greenish"
lol

bluish greenish....hm veiltail me thinks before even seeing him! i think youve done everything right so far...but then im no expert  but id defo say your all set up!

thanks! I am actually very excited - in all my years of fish keeping I have NEVER owned a betta - funny as how that is most people's first fish, other than a goldfish!

Once I move next month I will work at setting him up in his own tank - with the divider he has approxiamately 4 gallons to himself, maybe a tad more.

Finger's crossed this doesn't pull me into another obsession!!! I already have obsessions with guppies, african dwarf frogs, and african clawed frogs! lol

But from the beautiful pictures I have seen in this forum...I have a feeling I am going to become a betta enthusiast!

hehe my first fish was a betta! there so interactive....you can sit in front of the tank for ages and he will swim back and forth and even (with alot of time) learn "tricks" i think you may well be on the way lol get ready for it, and post pics!! i cant wait to see him :hyper:

4Gal is a good size! Is the tank heated and filtered?
Pet shops do sell alo of veiltails and common colours would be reds/blue/greens so he could be a veiltail, but you never know! :good:
Also hat temperature is the tank kept at? 72-80 degrees is the heat a betta needs, i keep my betta tanks just under 80.

The tank IS filtered and heated - right now the temp is about 77*F.
The other side of the tank is used for guppies and african dwarf frogs.

here are a few pictures! They aren't the best - I didn't want to harass him while he was settling in by making him flare - I might tomorrow if he seems adjusted!

I also need to think of a name!!!!
what about D'Artagnan - the hunk who wanted to join the three musketeers? lol

He's a lovely colour :) hopefully he will settle in well. Not sure abouts a name - I'd give him some time to show his personality and see what springs out at you, but that;s just me!

so...what kind of Betta is he??

Beautiful green veiltail you have there, can't think of a name for you but i'm sure after watching him for a while and getting used to his personality you will think of one :good: oh and before long you will be as hooked as the rest of us! :D
