Following my bba problems, still ongoing of course, I thought I'd give a quick update.
I have followed the advice, and the info I found. Increased my co2 quite alot actually, got new indicator fluid for the drop checker. co2 increased from 1 bubble per second to more like 4. Drop checker showing good colour at the end of the co2 cycle, fish all happy. Surprised to see loads of pin head bubbles coming from various plants this afternoon. Photosynthesis?? Lets just hope its from the plants and not the algae lol

It's called pearling and it's when the plant is giving off oxygen. Looks quite pretty!

Thanks. I have heard of that before, I was just a bit worried that if I've set the level above what my plants will use it may increase the algal problem, hence being concerned if the plant or algae was producing the bubbles. Although the drop checker is showing a good colour, I'm awaiting a co2 test kit to accurately check the saturation, I believe 30ppm is a good level.
I'm also now left wondering if the increase in co2 will mean I need to up my ferts.....

I've not done much on the planted side for a while but if I remember correctly Co2 is usually the limiting factor for aquatic plant growth.  The fact you have algae suggests that something is missing to allow plants to utililse all the ferts you are adding which is why you have the algae.  So I'd leave it at the increased levels and not alter the ferts.  At least until you see your algea clearing up.

I'm having my own algae problems, the tank is no longer high tech but I'm seriously considering setting up my CO2 system, even at a very low level to see if I can eliminate the algae.
