Hi all - new to the forum but been keeping aquariums for almost 15 years now. Iā€™ve recently started working on a planted tank with co2 and have a query about my drop checker.

The tank is a Juwel 180, not heavily planted - about medium at the moment. Flow is good with a powerhead and filter output well positioned.

When I add the drop checker the colour indicates a good/low level of CO2, but after about 3-4 days it changes yellow to show dangerously high CO2. The checker is positioned bottom left, co2 diffuser is bottom right. Itā€™s almost as if thereā€™s a film created and sealing it from the aquarium - pictures below. All other water checks indicate everything is ok using a test strip. CO2 is on a timer, 45 mins before lights, turns off 60 mins before lights are off, about 1 bubble per 2 seconds.
Anyone else had this or recommendations? Ignore the black beard algae - working on this!
