I have had them, without resounding success, kept them alive for a year or so with slow growth. They are swamp plants grow up to about 10 inches in ideal conditions, they save food in the ‘bananas’ for when the swamp dries out. In the wild they grow in shallow water where the leaves reach the surface and grow bigger. The roots grow from above the ‘bananas’, it requires pretty high light and if my memory is correct needs a dormant dry period which explains why it may not be very long lived in aquariums. Don’t know why they are cheaper than other plants though.
