hi guys,
i went too the fish shop and saw these tropical shrimps called bamboo shrimps
can anyone give any info on them
cheers

They are filter feeders, need a tank larger then 20gallon that is matured for them to have enough food and happy, food can also be supplemented through crushed up skrimp pellets but not advisable as the only source vary there food supply. Don't have claws capable of hurting anything but do grow quite big 4-6", start of when young or freshly molted with a slight red tinge they can colour morph but the effects aren't extreme mainly from clear to brown and various stages inbetween

I'm willing to say that they require supplemented feeding. Most filter feeders do poorly in captivity if not target fed; Just look at the clams that are often available for freshwater tanks. They often die of starvation.

Luckily, it's easy enough to feed them. Take a bit of tankwater in a cup and add crushed flakes/pellets to it, then wait until they become waterlogged and sink. Suck up some of it and squirt it at the shrimps fans with a turkey baster or something similar.

Yep, I'd agree with the above :good:.

They do much better with supplemental feeding at least every 2-3 days.

You can tell if they are getting enough food by the amount of poop they produce...and you fill notice lol .

The other way to tell is if they go around trying to scrape food off the ground, which can wear down their fans if they do it too much (though they somtimes do it normally, not very often).
