i saw some baloon ram at my lfs.
what do people think about them?
any experience to share?

Rams are sensitive fish to begin with.

Rams that are inbred using hormone induced breeding are more sensative.

Rams that are inbred using hormone induced breeding to take on funny unnatural shapes are even more sensative, prone to swim bladder infections and don't compete as well with other fish in the tank.

My experience as well.

If you like the colors, go with the normal blue or gold ram. They tend to be pretty delicate, but you'll have better luck than with the balloons. They are new world cichlids, and prefer soft, very clean water. You will really have to stay on top of your tank maintenance to keep these guys healthy. What size tank do you have and what do you want to keep them with?
