Balloon Ram

Are Balloon Rams the same as German Rams (the normal type)??

If not could someone please tell me whatever there is to know about them as I am going to buy some tomorrow (unless anyone puts me off!)

I have a 50 gallon community tank with the fish listed in my sig.

What do you all think about a pair/or 4 balloon rams?

They are, but similarly to balloon mollies, they have been selectively bred to bring out the balloon body shape.
The only problem I could see in your set up, would be the Angels. They are Cichlids also and might not take too kindly to the Ram's presence. Provide plenty of cover and hiding places. I'd only opt for one pair of Rams.

I have just found some info on these balloon rams and it seems that they are inbred and very susceptible to disease and not at all hardy. I don't think I will get these but may possibly get the normal german rams.

What about firemouths I have been reading that they are good community cichlids.

My angels are still young so hopefully shouldn;t be too bad with another cichlid.
