Hi,

We introduced a Balloon Molly to our established tank on Saturday just gone. She is settling in very well, and is quite a character! We have continued to feed all the fishies as before, usual flake food, and pellets for the catfish - and the Molly (ingeniusly called Molly!), has been noticed to be going to the toilet A LOT!
Don't know if we should be worried, we are always watching our fish, and have noticed that this is more frequent toilet visits than the other fishies.
I'll try not to lower the tone too much, but in order to explain our discovery, she has just had 3 seperate poos, one after the other, and each was approx 2 inches in length!
Should we be concerned?
Any help appreciated!

Thanks

Em (& Chris) x :flowers:

What colour is the poo, due to a bad diet, need frozen foods and veg in there diet to keep them healthy.

Hiya, it is a reddish brown - and she's still going! I fed some brine shrimp for the first time tonight but this was after this all started, as I had read on one of the forums about variety (I don't eat same thing every day so why should they?).
She seems relatively happy, still quite active around the tank - but isn't as playful as I have seen her.......

....can I do anything else to help her?
Thanks everyone for your help )

You need a varied diet it keeps them heallthy and going to the toilet, the can get the runs with a poor diet.
Is she swollen in the tummy area.

Yes I think so, we've only had her a few days, so its not that obvious to me.... but she looks about to pop! She is getting a bit grumpy now because we have a platy (Lily) that is a bit of a stalker and has taken a shine to her, so is just following her around wherever she goes! Molly is just trying to chase her out of the way.

I think I will definitely change the flake food as we've had this pot for a few months, and introduce veggies from tomorrow - as I prob shouldn't feed again tonight?!

Thanks for the links, they are really helpful - I am so pleased I found this forum!

I wouldn't feed her for a day, good luck.

Yes, i'll defintely isolate her then for a day and try her from a fresh pot of flake food from Thursday night.
Thanks again for your help - g'nite )

uuuuuuhhhhhhhhh y...y...y..yyou stole my name.  .

sorry for the hijack. ;)

If youv'e issolated her add some salt it will do her the world of good, if she been going to the toilet at lot, and for the swelling.

hi
ive also found that just adding new mollies or swordies for the first couple of weeks they seem to go all the time & the poo is usually uhhhmm very long!!!!!
its probably change in diet & the fact you will probably be feeding much more than the lfs or breeder..........our mollies and swordies love romaine lettuce & peas.
