my balloon molly that i posted a topic about yesterday gave birth to about 15-20 fry today which i was so excited about!!!!!
but the bad news is that only 2 survived since she had them prematurely but at least 2 survived ill get pics as soon as i can and the fry are usually just sitting there and swim half of the time so im super happy

ya i was pretty sure it was cause she was really small but im just glad that 2 actually survived and she will be expecting next month probrably and i need to be ready for my next molly casue my next 2 are going to give birth in a week or 2

yea its ok if you only have females for now cause the mollies have a sperm wall that they house the sperm from the last male the mated with, and they wont need a mate for about,6-7 months, and the good news is she will get better at giveing birth, and give birth to more fry,

good luck

ya probrably so some time at the end of august im expecting another batch and she will prebrably get good at it and i need to be cautious now of my other female ballon molly since when i bought her she was pregnent but she also mated with my black ballon molly and she is nearly sqaured of and is starting to act like my molly that gave birth
well thanks youve been a great help

no prob add me to your friends list and if you have any questions just e-mail it to me or post and i should respond

Don't forget that molly fry will give off a hormone to surpress the the weakly fry to die. You need to do daily water changes to get molly fry to grow and survive

I have raised large numbers of mollies in less than ideal conditions and none of them died. You do get slower growth unless you do lots of water changes, so they are worthwhile doing. My molly breeder gives birth at exactly 6 week intervals but each fish is an individual in the timing. Once you have measured the time between drops, you will know what to expect. Unless you have a male to keep things going, each fry drop tends to get smaller as the female uses stale sperm packets.

o ok that makes sense and when you breed your mollies do you but a male and a female in the same like small breeder tank or do you let them do it on there own?

you would probrably want them to do it by themselves i have 2 different kinds of mollies and they still mate im trying to keep track of my mollys births now since im expection 2 of my mollies to give birth soon

If your only mollies are the ones you want to have breed, you don't need to isolate them. Mine are in a community tank and I just remove the female to give birth. If you keep multiple mollies, only put the ones together that you don't mind breeding with each other, since they will.
