 I have a male balloon mollie who has been sitting on the bottom of the tank for about 4 days now. he looks as though his scales are sticking out all over him and he is quite puffy looking. Each day i get up and think that he will probably have died over night, but there he is on the bottom, barely breathing ( or whatever fish do!!)

What do you guys think it is and how can I help him out a bit?

Thankyou :good:

Did the fish make it.

The fish is still going. He has been like this for just over a week now. The puffiness has gone down, but he is still sitting on the bottom huffing and puffing. He swims up to the top to eat when i feed them though. He just seems to keep going and going when i fully expect every morning when I get up, to see him dead in the tank. Should I just let him keep going or would he be suffering?

If he's still eating that's a good sign. Still might be worth trying the epsom bath as wilder suggested. Is there a strong current in the tank ? Perhaps he's hanging around the bottom to get out of the flow ?

Need to get the swelling down it affecting his breathing.
Epson salt bath.

Ok he is still going guys! He still sits on the bottom the majority of the time, and comes up to feed. But he seems to be kind of retarded now. No more puffiness though. But he bumps intot hings a lot and can not stay at the top for any length of time. Should I just hope for the best or am I being cruel?

He sounds disorientated to me, your instincts should tell you, he sounds bad to me.

Sorry not nice, usually you know when its time to do the awful deed, sorry.
