Balloon Blue Ram Behaviour!

I have 7 rams in my tank, 3 golden, 3 blue and one balloon blue. I noticed today that the balloon blue is digging a shallow hole in the sand. It will go in nose first then lower its belly onto the sand and then wave its fins about to push the sand away which leaves a sort of hollow.. any idea what the reason for this could be.. thanks!

Sounds like it's digging a hole to lay eggs in!

My Blue Rams dug some holes but they never layed any eggs to my knowledge.
