my bala has a white speck in the middle of his eye , and the fish are flashing now , i highered the temp for 1 week they stopped flashing

i have a red tailed black shark

what should i do

the flashing came back

does the bala have fish flukes?

You should keep the tank at 82-84 degrees, you need to bring the temp up by 2 degrees everyday until it reaches the 82-84 mark then wait 2 weeks. At the same time vacuums the gravel for spores. Make sure you don't vacuum the whole gravel to avoid a mini cycle. You can do it half one day and half the other day. when he's rubbing against things, he is being bothered by Ich.

Hope this might be helpful to you.

The problem here isn't that your shark has a disease but that you are keeping him in the first place...
Bala sharks require an 8ft tank as a bare minimum and need to be kept in groups. Keeping a single specimen in a 90 gallon tank is simply cruel.

I would highly recommend you rehome him ASAP.

I think thats a bit harsh wrightt3... saying its cruel, people buy them not knowing of what size of tank is required and what size they grow to i am one of those aswell, but i am getting a larger tank,so basically you are saying everyone is cruel who keeps these?...yet with the LFS perhaps not knowing anything of these fish etc sell them to you anyway no matter what, and they dont ask you what size of tank the bala's are going into and what size they grow to.

I would also get shot of the redtail shark they cause havoc,i had one and a ruby tail and they killed loads of my fish especially bottom dwellers they stress them all out and they swell and die

After going back over my comment, I must admit that I did come across as being a bit harsh but this was not my intention. I do however still stand by what I said.
These are exceptionally large and active fish and therefore require exceptionally large tanks. I'm not saying that everyone who keeps these fish are cruel but I am saying that it is cruel to keep them in a tank that is too small, as it is with any fish.
Whilst I do agree that the LFS often does not provide enough information about these fish, it is the owner's responsibility to research the fish's requirements before purchasing it.

Well done to you for getting a larger tank!
